Savings and environmental responsibility are actual concerns. Fixing faulty units ensures savings ranging from 50% to 90% in respect to new goods value, not to mention the savings of the disposal costs (special waste). Hence, repairs are an actual theme.

Since years, Novatel successfully operates in the electronic boards and equipments repairs field, at any complexity level. Offered services include:

  • Customer assistance services;
  • Continuous and thorough tracking of each in-repairation board;
  • Performed activities report;
  • Repairs statistics;
  • Repairation materials procurement;
  • Replaced parts inventory;
  • HW and SW upgrade;
  • Standard repairation time (TACT time): 10 to 15 calendar days;
  • Swift repairation time: 3 to 5 calendar days.

All rework related equipments are temperature-controlled; the ones used for complex parts (e.g. BGA) are automatically operated and follow thermal profiles realized by experienced Process Engineering personnel.

Repairs components and materials that need particular storage conditions, are packed in protective atmosphere sealed bags .

For repairing purposes, apart from the functional tests carried out on the customer’s specifications, the following techniques and /or equipments are used:

  • Thermal analisys by means of thermal imaging cameras;
  • 3D X-RAY soldering inspections (BGA)
  • Parametric Flying Probe test
  • J-TAG testing (Boundary Scan)

Appropriate SW and HW tooling, necessary for trouble-shooting, are developed by qualified Novatel test engineering personnel.

Novatel is also able to design and develop functional test equipments for functional and/or system test or to engineer and automate existing test systems.
